Towing capacity chart?

Where are you guys finding towing capacity charts? I'm having a hard time find dodge's specs. Looking at a travel trailer to put on a seasonal site year round, but I have to get it there first.

I need exact numbers for my 05 Dodge 2500 quad cab 4x4 diesel. Auto with 3.73 gears.

Thanks!

Trailer life towing guide. Google it.

    Thanks.

That says 13,100. That has to be 5er weight? Or is that really what dodge says for bumper pull as well?
  • Ram Body Builder says Maximum trailer weight is 13,100lb and GCVWR is 20,000lb.

Course that is based on truck only weighing 6900# (20,000 minus 13,100)

The more the truck actually weighs (people/fuel/stuff) the less the trailer can weigh and stay within ratings
  • Getting good Dodge numbers are very difficult, do a search based on your VIN number. That's what I ended up doing as all the towing guides were wrong for the way our truck is equipped.

Yes, like with any other truck manufacturer out there those numbers will change. If the original poster wants to stay with-in his ratings then use the gcvwr. Weigh the truck and subtract it from the gcvwr. There are other numbers to consider too. I was just answering the OPers question. FWIW, I towed a rig for years with the same truck as the op that was 20,000# not counting the truck weight. It did/does great.

Have you looked in your owners manual? It should spell it out in the towing section.

The weight police may freak out at the idea of towing something without knowing exact numbers, but I cannot imagine a bumper pull travel trailer that your truck can't handle easily and safely, especially in flat Wisconsin.

Yeah I agree. I was trying to determine if I "had" to have a WD hitch. But didn't want to come out on here and state that because I figured I'd get harassed.

Turns out, the dealer I'm getting the TT from has a used WD hitch for $100. I only need to tow the trailer from dealer to home, then home to seasonal site. It will stay there year round. So I didn't really want to spend $500 or whatever on a hitch to use twice. Yes I know it's a safety thing, but the trailer isn't huge weight. Under 10k.

I'll probably get harassed for this anyway. Lol
