Disagree. Evidently you haven't looked at GVWR, GCWR, RAWR & FAWR on 2013 and up 3500 SRW trucks. Heck, for a GVWR of only 12K,(your example), there ARE newer 2500's that can handle that weight. I towed a 12KGVW 5er with an 03' Chevy 2500, was fine. 12K is EASILY handled by the 3500 SRW trucks.
For the OP, if DRV GVW is as heavy as stated by some, I'd opt for a 3500 Dually.
I agree with the weight handling of the new trucks, but as stated the older 7.3's is not the truck for that load.
