I've been looking for a fiver for several months now and want to know what you experts think. The owner said that he bought it new. It's a 2006 Laredo 25RK in good shape and has been stored under roof except when in use. I believe that claim because the outside looks really good except the front decals are faded some where the front of the storage unit is open. The top isn't completely clean but I can still see some white. There is no delamination on any of the outside and the frame doesn't have any rust on it. The inside looks really good even though I wish it were oak and they took the couch out and replaced it with a recliner and a nice rocker that doesn't have rails but sits still and has springs in it. I'll probably want to get another couch to put in it. I couldn't find any evidence of any leaks on the inside.The only real negative is that the tires are original and even though they look good and have almost new tread I'm sure they need to be replaced because of the age.He wanted $9,000 for it but said he would take $8,000 for it. That price may be somewhat high but is it worth it for a camper that has seen very little use and stored under roof?Thanks

Yes, it needs tires asap! If you deduct the cost of tires, and buying a couch, from the 8K, you just need to make an offer. If you want it, make a reasonable offer. You can always up your offer, but not lower it. Most owners will offer to split the difference.It is hard to tell, even with good pics, on actual condition. It sounds like you checked it over pretty good.Jerry

I had offered $7,500 and that's when he countered with $8,000. I'm going to check on the price of tires and a couch and go from there. Thanks

We traded in our 2008 Laredo 29RK for $12,000 last year. So it sounds like it is a reasonable price.

The slide tilting a little is normal. Mine does that. It is how they compensate for the sag that would be inevitable when the slide is extended.

I run it all the way in or out until it stops, but I'm careful to get off the switch as fast as possible. I want to minimize wear on the torque limiter, which I can hear ratcheting at the end of travel.

I got my camper home today and have started getting acquainted with it. I already have a question. I haven't ever had a slider before so I want to make sure I'm doing things right. When bringing the slide in and out I hold the switch until the slide completely stops. Correct? When bringing the slide in the top hits first and then the bottom keeps coming in some and raises up off of the floor a little. Is this normal? I'm assuming that this is a Lippert slide but it started raining today and I wasn't able to find out.

I appreciate any insight.

Thanks Jerry. I do have one guy that would move it but he has a SuperGlide hitch and I don't have a capture plate for my pin box. I may show him a picture how the front corners are recessed and see if he thinks he can tow it. After looking at the SuperGlide there could be one in my future if I buy a short bed truck.

I've done some driveway camping before. I bet some of my grandkids would be up for it. This is my first fiver so I do have some things to learn.

Hey Danny, congrats on the new to you FW!

You should be able to find a guy with a truck and FW hitch to tow it for a reasonable fee. Just remind the driver that the tires are 10 years old, and keep speed low. A blowout can cause expensive damage to an RV! Also check air pressure, and add air if needed before towing 65 miles.

Driveway camping can be fun, and a great way to learn the rig, needed items etc.

My wife got out of the hospital yesterday. She's still feeling poorly but I'll take that compared to where she was not too long ago.

We went and looked at the Laredo today and bought it. My wife couldn't get over how nice it looked for a 2006. They bought it new in 2007 and either used it sparingly or took excellent care of it or both. It's not perfect but it's in really good condition.

Now to get it home. I don't have a truck to pull it with yet but the storage is paid up until early Nov. I tried to get the guy I bought it from to deliver it for a fee but for some reason he didn't want to do that. It's about 65 miles away so even if I had to hire somebody to pull it home it shouldn't cost too much. I doubt if I'll be able to use it this year except for maybe some driveway camping.

Thank you all for the input and concern for my wife. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to meet some of you in the campground.

Many make the move up to E-rated tires, due to their D-rated being barely adequate. In your case, (light weight trailer) it would not be needed, as the D-rated are 2,540 at 65 lbs. If using E-rated at 80 lbs, you would have more capacity, but your suspension and trailer contents will take more of a beating. ST trailer tires should be run at max pressure, so IMO, it would be unwise to buy E-rated, and run less than 80 lbs pressure.

Maxxis tires have been better than most STs. However, the newer Carlisle, and the Provider tires are worth considering. They have a higher speed rating, due to a cap that is supposed to run cooler. I don't tow over 65 mph, but it is good to have a tire rated for 81 mph. My FW came with the Provider D-rated tires, and they have given me good service.

Thanks all for the concern of my wife. She is doing a lot better and this will be the first night I've spent at home since she's been in the hospital. I still feel nervous about being away from her tonight but she wanted me to go home and get some rest. I've shown her pictures of the camper and she's pretty excited about it.

On the tires. I've already been looking and reading about tires and it seems that the Maxxis 8008 comes highly recommended. If I do get those they would be the E rated tires. They're rated for a load of 2,830. Bpounds is right about the 10K gross rating of the camper. The tires would have an 11,320 capacity and if I took the 1,225 hitch weight off of the gross camper rating that would leave 8,775 on the tires. I'm an overkill kinda guy and I thought that would be enough of a safety margin but I'll listen to any opinions on this. I just hate to buy new rims.

Thanks for all replies. I've done a lot of reading on this site and have learned a lot. I just want to retire and go camping.

Sounds like a decent price to me. I wouldn't sell my 2004 for $8,000.
Offer to split the difference and get it for $7750. Hope the wife is better. Good luck and let us know if you get it.
