2007 carriage cameo

I had the same issue with mine but the off-door slideout (heaviest slide) due to motor mount bolts coming loose. It then happened again and then realized it will continue happening. I re-engineered the motor mounts and so far been good. As mentioned above the Carriage-Lifestyle forum will help you out.

The slide motors coming loose was a common problem. Get on the Carriage-Lifestyle forum and you can see the fixes for this. The gear teeth may be broken and will require new gears and/or motor.

If the shop does a half way repair on the slide it will break again in short order.

I have a 2006 carriage and on the slide motors on the 2 big slides. The 3 bolts that hold the slide motor on were starting to work loose. They never got loose enough to screw up the gears. I was checking them every so often to prevent that. When they started to work loose I cleaned up the treads on the bolts and put blue locktite on them. I check them every so often but have not had a more problems.
You are not going to buy any brand trailer that you won't have to do something to sooner or later. It is just like owning a house.Their is stuff you have to do to a house to keep it in shape so you don't have big problems. Carriage is one of the top quality 5th wheels . Not only outside and inside. But between the walls where it counts also.

I would get it repaired correctly and go with it. Carriage made excellent units.

We had the same problem and had a local repair shop replace the motor and works fine now. I do think they have tolerances that are tight and might be long term problematic but I think that the quality of the unit is worth it. You may never have the problem again. there are other fixes out there if you buy the unit then you should become a member of the Lifestyle Carriage forum, they have members who can offer all kinds of experience with all the issues that may or may not come up.

Not a deal breaker. Can't diagnose it from here, but it could be a minor issue...and likely worst case is motor. I suspect a minor repair.

The bolts that hold the slide motor can come loose and the gears will not engage. The gears might need to be replaced if the slide was used with a loose motor. But most of the time it just needs to be tighten.
