Not sure how thick the I beam is - not very from what I can tell. Again, gotta keep it light, right? The welding quality is average at best from what I can tell but I'm not a welder so I'm not really qualified to judge. The cracks are right along the weld that attaches the crossbrace on the other side of the beam - they spider out off of that weld.
I guess the big lesson is crawl around under your rig with a good flashlight at least 2x a year. Wash down the underside prior and look for loose stuff and cracks. I'm hopeful that this can be repaired - I intend to use my hauler a lot over the next 5-10 years and it needs to be safe for my family.
