2013 Artic Fox 27L

My wife and I bought a 2013 Artic Fox in November 2012. Since then we have had to take it in 3 times, and are about to take it in for the 4th time, to get the electronic dump station fixed. The first two times the adjusted and lubed the valves and that worked for a time or 2. The last time they replaced the black water valve and adjusted the other two.

When I went to dump last weekend, the black water and gray water #1 would not dump... I cant even begin to tell you how frustrated we are.

The dealer tells me we are the only ones having this problem. So this is my question, is anyone else having this problem, and if so were you able to fix it? Thanks

    GON2SKI,

Sounds like we have the same problem not only with the valve but leaking.. Every time I go to dump and take the cap off, I have about 1 gallon of gray water dump out on the ground.. Very embarrassing. I am told that its is just a poor design. There is some kind of "P" trap in the line that captures some water. Then when you drive around it splashes down towards the cap.. Im not buying it..

I had a similar issue with our 29-5E, we finally worked out it wasn't a leaking valve, but rather the long line from the kitchen sink didn't drain quickly (recall we have exactly the same layout as a 27-5L, just longer).
My solution was to put a fourth valve right at the dump. This also allows me to open the two gray tanks and let the kitchen grey flow to the bath grew (since we don't shower in the rig, when boon-docking for a week).
Now my solution may not be possible with the new centralized system. But it worked with the old manual system.

  • we have had our 32-5m for almost a year now with a fair bit of use. we have not had any problems with our power valves to this date.
  • We have had our 2014 27-5L (First AF for us) out for its second shake down trip and it is now in the dealers shop for repairs. Valves worked good on the first trip, but dumping after our second trip the galley gray tank valve failed to open I had installed the clear acrylic swivel extension so I could see the flow or lack of flow luckily. I put the unit back into storage waiting till local dealer could work on all the issues we found and during these travels I've noticed that the valve must have opened so now the dealer has the problem! I'll keep you posted as to my valve repair....they said they would need the unit two weeks for this and my other items to be fixed.
  • Thanks for the reply's you guys.. If we ever get it fixed I will let you know...
  • Bill,

I have not had the problem ..... yet...... please post
here whenever you find the solution/remedy. My history
been the usual piddly problems.... nothing major.
Unfortunately , I left the one year warranty
    period 2 months ago.

    Good luck...

p.s. make sure you check out the hole alignment on the
manual crank (rod) for raising and lowering stabilizers
(in the event of powered failure). Ours, and others, had
to be re-drilled.(not off by much , but enough to make it
    un-operable).

  • Hi,

I have a 2013 295k and it does have the electronic dump station and I have taken it out twice and so far I have not had a problem. This is my second Arctic Fox also, I had a 245n before this one. But to me the reply "you are the only one having this problem" doesn't seem to be a great answer, are they saying that you are doing something to cause this problem?

  • We do love our Artic Fox. Like you this is our second on. We had an Artic Fox 990 for 6 years and never had a problem with it... Its why we stayed with the brand. Thank you for the advice. I will check it out. Bill
  • First, I hope you love your Fox as much as we do (this is our 2nd one in 14 years), but we don't have the control control power dump station you do.
Second, do you know about the Northwood Owners forum

I have to say, this is the first time I have heard about this issue, so the dealer may be telling you truth.

I will PM you the e-mail address of the Technical assist person Northwoods has that answers e-mails with questions (he just, today, helped me with some TV coax routing)
