Ram dragged their feet on the "picture frame" adapter that fits the 5er/GN prep package perfectly and my 20k Reese hitch fit's it..As far as I know "most" if not all Reese hitch's will fit the adapter. I also know the 16k slider will fit the adapter.
I got mine the middle of July, though I got my truck 9 May...did put a crimp in my camping and I cancelled some trips and have yet to tow with my new truck, but will soon..
To get the "picture frame" adapter, you have to use your VIN to order the part, it shows that your truck has the GN/5er prep package. It uses the 4 outer holes and locks down to the frame of the truck. You can remove your hitch and the adapter and the truck bed has nothing in it but the puck holes which are covered up with the supplied covers.
The center hole will take the Reese Elite drop in ball...some who couldn't wait for the RAM adapter went with the Andersen Ultimate 5er hitch that attached to the Reese Elite drop in ball.
But I had my 20K Reese Signature hitch that I didn't want to "can", so I waited on the adapter, it IS available..again, use your trucks VIN number to get it....your parts dept. should know this...if they don't, borrow their computer and show them this post. Go to the cummins forum to get more information if you need it.
There are some on the forum who DIDN'T get the prep package and had their hitchs put on as normal and if I hadn't ordered the prep package, I could have had my Reese hitch put on with rail kit.
Need anymore information, PM me.
