2014 Dodge Ram 3500 fifth wheel issues

Let me run this by you guys and gals,

I bought a New 2014 Voltage 3200. I decided the truck I had wasn't enough. So I purchased a New 2014 3500 Ram DRW SLT. The toy hauler is ready to go ... but the truck isn't. I've waited and waited. Come to find out the 20k Reese I bought the brackets won't fit the 2014 truck.

Dodge upgraded the entire frame and suspension components, thus, having a hard time finding brackets to fit the frame for the install. Has anyone else had to go through this nightmare. I would have NEVER imagined this of all things!! go figure, I was focused on getting the trailer issues corrected over the last several weeks. NOW cant even get it off the lot.

My truck does not have the gooseneck 5th wheel package set-up like some do 14 Rams do... however, that would be an issue too. No after market brands makes brackets for it yet I'm told by the dealer . Their still working on it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

  • I just bought a new 2014 DRW Ram 3500 and had a B&W Companion hitch put on. Very easy to use. Seems to anyway. I pick up my new Mobile Suites this week.
  • Again, I don't have the factory tow prep... that's the problem. Its not about the picture frame or gooseneck I don't have either prep! its a long bed NO prep. So the dealer and Reese say frame brackets are needed to install Reese hitch. Back to problem! NO ONE is sending brackets that work under the bed on the frame.

    Call Reese!

    1. Did you get the factory 5th wheel and gooseneck prep? If so get the Reese picture frame if the hitch fits it.

    2. If you did not get the factory prep, you have two choices. Pay more to add it now or return the Reese hitch and get the B&W Companion hitch and the gooseneck piece for the bed that the Companion attaches to. Or you can go the Anderson hitch route, which is a modified gooseneck.

Dodge really dropped the ball on this, getting the trucks out before working on the hitch details.

Curt, B&W and Reese are all working on hitches the go directly into the four factory bed pockets.

There have been a lot of posts on this subject. Search NC Hauler and follow his post to learn more. Or search Reese Picture Frame.

    Read on!

......that would be an issue too..

There is a picture frame adapter that fits the new 14's with the goose/fifth prep package and most fifth wheel hitches will fit the adapter. Anderson makes a fifth hitch for 14's. I think your dealer is behind the times on this and perhaps better more up to date info can be attained through RV dealers and the internet.
