- RustyJCExplorerThe slideouts aren't different. The queen bed version has more room on either side of the bed. We have the king in our 38RSSA, but we also have nightstands on either side with electrical outlets in case one uses a CPAP and individual light switches - our dealer orders them this way.
Rusty - soosExplorer IIAdding to that, I would think that the aforementioned night stands would prohibit the insertion of a king mattress. We have a queen, and there is no way we could fit a king in there after the fact.
If you are ordering one, you can specify which size bed you want.
The only thing maybe you could do would be to remove the night stand if you really need a King.
We tested out queens (think motels and visiting relatives) before we decided that it would work just fine for us. - RustyJCExplorerThe nightstands for a king are different than those for a queen, I suspect. Our "king" nightstands mount at the face of the bed slideout and leave the full width of the slideout available for the king mattress. You'd have to change out or eliminate the queen-type nightstands to use a king.
Rusty - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIThis is a King, if it were a Queen there would be a cabinet on the right to match the left.
IMHO Queen is too small! - RustyJCExplorerThe photo I attached in post #4 is a king bed in a 38RSSA, the topic of this thread. It has nightstands like the one pictured on both sides of the bed, IF they were ordered. The king mattress is snug against both sides of the slideout. Other Mobile Suites models may/will vary.
Rusty - dapperdanExplorerOurs looks exactly like Rusty's! The slide would be the same, that would be a production "nightmare" with differing slide out sizes on the same model!
They have enough trouble getting these things built right without "complicating" things further. You DRV guys will understand this pun. :B
Dan - tarheel2ExplorerWish I could see the pictures you guys are referring to. I don't have a unit yet. I was considering one that has a queen.. I gotta have a king. The queen appears to have a shelf on both sides. Wonder if one or both could be removed to accommodate a king mattress? And yes I have seen stock pictures that show the shelves on the face of the slide on both sides.
- missourijanExplorerI don't know why the shelf or cabinet cannot be removed to install a king mattress. You may have to replace the plywood to add a wider piece for a king. Have you posted this on one of the suites owners sites? There's a Drv thread on the 5th wheel forums, on the Thor website and on Facebook. There's another website SOITC, suites owners international travel club, google for that.
- azjeffhExplorerOurs was built Feb '16, and this is what our king looks like. I know there were some changes made from some built earlier.
width=600 - BarneySExplorer IIII imagine it would be really hard to make the bed up with those night stands on both sides sticking out like that. Looks too far to reach without climbing on the bed.
