The receptacle is fine it's only at the adapter on the 30 amp plug side! All the signs point to pulling to much power.
............With 50 amp service you have 2 25 amp breakers on your master panel , you also have 2 heavy copper flat connectors on the 50 amp plug ! When you downsize , to a 30 amp , you've allocated ALL LOADS to one large flat connector , instead of 2 . The plastic housing of the 30 amp will heat UP along with the positive connector and then the resistance starts increasing , the voltage will be reduced because of the increasing resistance(due to heat) , which means the amperage will increase as the voltage decreases ! , jf
