Yesterday we stopped by a dealer and checked a few out.
The Travel trailers had terrible layouts in the sizes we were looking. One you had to travel through a bathroom to get to the garage and one you had to go through a bathroom to get to the master bed! Other ones had zero space around the master bed so the mattress was up against the front and rear walls.
They unfortunately didn't have any smaller 5th wheel units. We looked some larger Grand Design models. It was nice, but I didn't see the extra cost in the unit. The appliances were nicer than the cheaper models, and they had nice layouts with lots of storage, but they still had cheap cabinets inside and the materials felt the same to me as the cheaper units.
We did determine that we liked the dedicated garage vs open plan. The kids are older and it separates their space. Also some of the opposing slide models you can't get the fridge open unless you open both slides. That kind of stinks when loading the camper up for the weekend and unloading. it requires constantly opening the slides which is one thing I don't like doing (extra wear and tear).
Also, the Jack & Jill bathrooms are nice, but you lose bedroom space. We could take it or leave it but it was good to get a feel of the space difference.
We hope to check out the smaller grand design this weekend (328). We looked through some of his catalogs and we liked the Impact 311 as well. It's about the same size as the Grand Design, just a flipped interior layout.
Thats what we have so far. The search continues.
