I'm able to fit a large dog crate in the front center of my short bed while towing the fifth wheel. Moot point if your dog won't get in a crate I guess, but you should have room in theory. I wouldn't worry too much about putting yours in the camper as long as you are running the AC and she doesn't go nuts in there. I know people get very strong feelings towards dogs, bordering on parental at times (which I find very strange). I love our dog and she's part of the family in her own way, but she's still a dog. I think it's okay for her to travel in ways you wouldn't let your children travel.
