36-38' multi slide with separate garage. What to buy?

I'm beginning to search for a 5th wheel TH.
It looks as if I'll have to go at least 36' to get the separate 10' garage and still have a decent living area.
I've looked at Heartland Road Warrior and Cyclone and really like them. Would love to get the 42' but don't want to be limited with campsites.
I'm leaning towards the 38' which has a great living area and 3 slideouts.
I'll keep my Lance so I can use that for small campsites, but still would like to be able to get into some of the county beach campgrounds.
I have a Dodge 03 DRW with a modified Cummins and trans so should be fine for this size.
Anyone have experience with the Heartlands or recommendations on other brands?

  • I have the Fuzion 342, three slides, tandem axle, 38' and an 11' or so garage. I like it, may be something you would be interested in.
  • Howdy!

After much research Hartland won out, we ordered a Cyclone 4000 elite waiting on it to be delivered. Its 43' but it will be shorter that our 5er we have now which is 36' with a Idaho Tote attached to it making us 45'. As others have stated you will get use to the length so I say go big from the gitgo.

If you can park a 38', you can park a 42'. That amount of extra length is negligible once you get used to use, and only half that is in wheel-base, so in most camp spots, you'd only need 2' feet since the back of trailer will most likely be hanging over the end of the pad.

Agreed, if your going that big get what you want.
