5er dry weight for a 9,500 pound total?
New truck tows 12,600 and gcwr is 19,800. Truck weighs 6700 empty and will weigh no more than 7300 with us and travel goods. Add 300 for hitch we're at 7600, so call it 8000 gross on the truck. If I use 1900 for pin weight that would mean I'm at 9900 lbs out of a GVR of 10,000. A little less with the right hitch and proper planning when loading truck. Still, we'll assume I'm close enough to gross to just call it 10k.
So, 19.8k gcwr - 10k gvr = 9,800 towing remaining.
9500 gvr 5th wheel x 0.2 = 1900 pound pin. That circle adds up, I think.
My experience with travel trailer says 1000 lbs for cargo. Let's say 500 lbs for solar and batteries. 500 lbs for water. Seems I'd be looking at maybe 2000 pounds for cargo and equipment, and maybe 2500 if they lie at the factory and include no optional equipment.
So maybe up to a 7000 pound 5th wheel is within the limits of my truck. Does that seem accurate to you guys?
Now to play it with travel trailers. Much more towing that way, I know, but the 5er is a more relaxing tow as I understand it.
Cheers...
