Well, I want to be conservative because I want it to actually weigh out at the scale once it's hooked up and loaded. In the end I want unused capacity left on both the truck and trailer chassis.
On the travel trailer, I'm not worried. I'm going to be towing 6k or more for a while yet with our little Hideout, and looking at floor plans on ones that carry most of our wish list, 26-30 feet and 10k will be about the most we'd ever reach. A good quality hitch and I'll be golden. Especially compared to our current camper behind my old standard cab short bed 1500. New truck new camper is going to be a breeze compared to what we had. New truck old camper is going to be as though we're empty.
