I tow and have been for 3+ years a 9000lb 5th wheel that weighs (Oregon Scales) 9000lbs loaded with an 1800lb pin, with a 2012 Ram 2500 CTD. Tows like an absolute dream. My GVWR is 9600lbs, I'm at 9800lbs. I've added 18" tires with a 6830lb rating on the rear. I'm under GCVWR, tow rating and RAWR even with the OEM 17" tires. Rear axle weight with 5th hitched is 4900lbs+/-.
I wouldn't even think twice about hitching a 9500lb 5er up to your truck.
X2!
Let me add that your 2016 Ram 2500, 6.4 hemi scales less than my 2001 2500 CDT. I carry/pull a 12,360# GVWR 5er with about 2,200# of pin (loaded at just over 11,000#), and the TV scales right at 10,000# loaded, with a 19,500# GCVW.
I trowed the same size 5er with a 2003 2500 Chevy D/A short bed extended cab truck...The main emphasis on my post where suggesting not to "guesstimate"..weigh the truck and go from there.. No doubt his truck can handle it..Just telling them to do the math..In all the years that I've been towing, (over 45), it was rare that I ever "guessed " right on how much I loaded a pop-up, HiLo, TT or 5er to...Most of the time I was wrong.....
