Didn't notice the OP had any upgrades to the truck. I've added Load Lifter 5000 bags, upgraded tires to 285 from 265, and upgraded brakes to extreme haul and tow pads and rotors.
Some upgrades may significantly increase load capacity of the vehicle. Which doesn't change what the stickers say... but the tow realistically has much greater capability.
What the OP is stating he's going to tow with his truck, would really not need all the add-on's you speak of..If one has to add all that to tow "X" size 5er, than one should have purchased a bigger truck from the get go.
I am a bit confused that Djgodden, felt that he needed to do those upgrades to carry/pull the 5er he has listed in his signature. :h
I carry/pull the same size and likely near the same weight, and the only upgrade besides the stock Camper package is a set of Bilstein shocks.
In my case, being a fifth wheel virgin at time of purchase and going by numerous recommendations... we bought the tow vehicle we did, AFTER we'd purchased the Montana. In these forums I posted our CAT scale weights and was tutored on all the relevant numbers accompanied by well meaning arm waving. The thread was fantastic with it's information. Buried in that thread were a few comments which caught my eye. Those comments were about the actual tow capabilities of my tow versus those of a "bigger" and more expensive mode. While doing a lot of reading and talking to people here, the Montana Owners forum, and the Turbo Diesel Forum I learned the differences between the Dodge SRW 2500 and 3500 are negligible. Some upgrades I made because I wanted to, others brought the capabilities to the same as a 3500 SRW.
I suppose I did a poor job of expressing my point, which was to know all the little details about your rig before deciding you're completely outclassed.
