5er toolbox needed

I'm looking for options/opinions for a 5th wheel style tool box. I'm thinking a maximum size of 48"x18"x18" and could possible go a little smaller that will go in the front of the bed.
Thanks!
  • Well I guess i will have to put all your little "BOXES" to shame! Mine is still made right in Portland, Oregon.

Now I can tell you your backside will hurt some when paying for this beauty unless you are lucky enough to find one on CL for $300 like I did a few years ago.

It's a HighwayProducts, it's 30" front to back it has storage along the front side for oil and the such and a sliding tray that is about 3" thick at the top with several compartments. The new price is at least $1,000. If I were in the market I would spend that no problem.

This one is an application for a second gen RAM and probably others also. My point is if you like the tight fit get this application otherwise you will have about a 4" gap on each side so you can access the "D" hooks.

Oh, for the B&W haters just pretend the hitch is not in the pic. :B

How long do you want to keep it? I spent a little more to get the Weatherguard Model 664-5 chest back in 2001. It just went into my 2016 Ram and still works as well as it did when new. The black finish (matches the bed liner) hasn't flaked or chipped at all. It's quality stuff...

I will match you and raise it by one. I got this box in the mid 90's for our 93 RAM. It was the narrower one for the 2nd gens, however sat on the bed rails of the 93 fine. Then it rode in a 2001.5 for 14 years and is now in the 2015.

The V-box came along in 2003 or 4. Both were pricy when purchased, however they have been a great investment.

Sad that the company went out of business, but when the box stores started selling boxes it was just a matter of time.

  • Also have the same Husky box in my shortbed Chevy and it works great.
  • Found mine used on Craigslist. Pretty much like the one shown. Having an extended cab truck with two dogs and grand kids on occasion I wouldn't be without it. Comes in handy when not towing to have a place to keep groceries out of the rain when the dogs are with is. When towing I keep leveling blocks, Sat TV stand in it with some other misc stuff. The tray has lots of little things and slides to both sides. My only option is to get as big as will fit, like storage cubbies, it fills fast

I picked up one at Lowes(could have been HD). It sits just below the rails.
