I use a plastic disc to carry the pin weight. A light coat of synthetic paste grease such as wheel bearing grease on the pin and jaws. Spray white lithium grease on the various pivot points, and that's it. It must work pretty well, as I'm still using the same B&W Companion hitch head that I purchased back in 2001, although the base has been upgraded to the 20K rated version.
