Trying to find out how limiting 5th wheel for boon-docking?
Grand Design 374TH: 42 feet long, 14 feet tall, ground clearance 18" (maybe 24", if able to increase by another 6") GCWR:20,000.
Other members suggested that I will have problem not only with ground clearance but with height due to tree branches, and turning due to tight turns.
So if you done some boon-docking in your 5th wheel, what was your experience? Where you able to find secluded, scenic place that your 5th wheel could navigate to?
Thank you.
Just depends on where you want to go. We've done 1-2 boondockers a year; one, at the same spot every year. I use 4LO to tow in to help control speed over a couple rocky stretches, but people bring street cars over the same stretch. (shrug) I did move spots this past year with the new rig that's 18" taller than my old one, and 3' longer. I probably =could= have got into my old spot, but I didn't feel like chancing it. This is disbursed camping in the forests of N AZ. There are places all around where we go that you could get into; both scrubby areas with no canopy and other areas with nice canopy, though you'd have to be =real= choosy.
