We do a lot of boondocking. It's our preferred way to camp or in FS CGs. Our FW is close to 36'. We take it easy going down the back roads and if we are not familiar with the area, and it's close enough for a day's ride, we check it out, but in our area, that's how we camp. As for trees and clearance, you'll get that in CGs too. In fact, the only damage we had to the roof of our FW was on a well used road on the way to a FS CG. We didn't notice the branch that stuck out. Stuck out just far enough to nick the edge of our rubber roof. Patched and it's fine.
