5th Wheel Entrance Steps

My wife has bad knees and climbing the OEM 3 step system on our 5th wheel is sometimes difficult for her.
I'm looking into the Moryde "Step above" 4 step unit or the Torklift 4 step "Glow Steps".
Does anyone have any experience with these step systems?
Thanks for your help!

  • Another vote for the glow step.
The glow step is superior to the other products mentioned because they have adjustable supports/legs that reach the ground. These legs eliminate the bounce and make the steps very stable.
The quadra steps do not have ground support and are subject to bounce.
The More Ryde steps are a bit cumbersome and bulky.
But the real problem is that they store inside the RV.
They are like a big scoop that flip debris into the rig. Any leaves, dust, sand or dirt that is on the steps will be flipped into the rig when you fold them in.
Sure you could sweep/wipe them down before bring them in if you want another camping chore. If it is raining be sure to get the water off of them or you will flip that into the RV as well.
Lastly the Mor Ryde steps block the doorway. I often sit my cooler or other items right at the doorway when loading up. The Mor Ryde blocks the door and prevents last minute loading.
For me the decision is easy.
  • We have the Glowstep - my DH has had 3 back surgeries (last one two weeks ago, today), both knees replaced and a rotator cuff fix. He LOVES the steps and said that it was one of the best things we have ever added to our RV. If we upgrade/replace, we will take the steps with us or get a replacement They are wonderful and worth every penny.
  • We have the glowstep. Even if they cannot be extended fully, they are still usable and they still provide that ground stability.
  • Just a third option:

The QuadraStep fits into the same area as the standard 3-step and works great. Easy to install, doesn't take up any more space to deploy, and won't break the bank.

When we first got our toyhauler we carried a portable step because that 3 step was too far off the ground. My wife thought the Quadrastep wouldn't make that much difference, but I installed one anyway. Her first trip up the steps convinced her.
  • I'm sorting through deciding between the same two options. One thing I want to check out on the Step Above is the room needed on a 4 step unit when parked in the storage yard next to another trailer. So far the Glow Step is a nod above the Step Above.
  • I really like the new Morryde steps, I do not have them as my steps are new, and the better Lippert version. (Aluminum and 4 step).. if something happens to my steps, I will order the Morryde
  • I have the Glow Steps. Very well made, easy to use, stable. The MorRyde and the new Lippert steps look good too.
