As noted above, it is almost uniformly popular to advise against it, by people who mostly have no experience with the gooseneck adapters. I stopped at a local dealer in Missoula, MT and asked about them. They told me that 50% of the fifth wheels they sell go out the door with the gooseneck, due to the prevalance of ranch trucks with the gooseneck balls. They report no trouble and no issues.
