Many tow for years like that with never a problem. But then ????? An auto slider brings peace of mind as you never have to worry about it.
Personally would not tow a 5er with a short bed!
Many have reasons for doing it, if I DID pull a 5er with a short bed, I would have a slider, preferably an auto slider.
I read of way too many broken rear windows.
