I am seeking 5th Wheel Hitch Advice. I have a Dodge 3500 short bed (6’4”) truck with the factory installed 5th wheel prep package. My truck has the capacity (bed tongue and total weight) to handle the trailer that I am considering. I do not know if the factory prep package limits what 5th wheel hitch I can or cannot install. I have talked to several people who have popped their rear windows – and they all advise a slider hitch.
There are many brands of hitches on the market, therefore, I am asking for your opinions and recommendations on what I should consider in purchasing a hitch. I do not want a Goose Neck style hitch. I appreciate your advice from your own experiences.
Thank you for your assistance.

Since I'm an avowed B&W "fanboy", according to some, I'll recommend them heartily. They make puck mount hitches for the Big 3 trucks. As for needing a slider, if you can turn to full lock in both directions and not hit WHILE GOING FORWARD, you may not need a slider. ALL FWs will hit when backing up, period. A slider just gives you a bit more room before you WILL hit. This from a guy who has taken out his back window early on in his RVing career. In my case, I can NOT hit my truck at full lock, right or left, when going forward.
