5th Wheel Hitch Advice

I am seeking 5th Wheel Hitch Advice. I have a Dodge 3500 short bed (6’4”) truck with the factory installed 5th wheel prep package. My truck has the capacity (bed tongue and total weight) to handle the trailer that I am considering. I do not know if the factory prep package limits what 5th wheel hitch I can or cannot install. I have talked to several people who have popped their rear windows – and they all advise a slider hitch.

There are many brands of hitches on the market, therefore, I am asking for your opinions and recommendations on what I should consider in purchasing a hitch. I do not want a Goose Neck style hitch. I appreciate your advice from your own experiences.

Thank you for your assistance.

  • A good friend had a short bed and no slider and with an older 5er with squared off lower front corners and knocked out his back window on a tight back in turn. Bought a newer 5er with contoured lower front corners and, with a little more caution, had no more problem.

Many tow for years like that with never a problem. But then ????? An auto slider brings peace of mind as you never have to worry about it.
  • You have the best truck now find the appropriate B&W hitch for your needs and you WILL be a happy camper!
