What does your hitch maker say ??
Of the three different hitch brands I've owned non of them recommended leaving their hitch hanging from the hitch jaws.
Good question. When I first thought about it I called B&W and asked if there could be any damage. The gentleman I spoke to just laughed and said there could be no damage. I then asked why they don't recommend it and his answer was, as I expected, liability. If they recommended it and someone released the pin and got hurt they could be sued. I suspect that other hitch makes do not recommend it for the same reason.
Like usual it's all about CYA !
But there are people that won't hang their hitch because the maker says not to do it. No common sense. The weight is not always on the hitch is sometimes is lifting the hitch.
