I have used this same hitch on 3 different trucks. The Sidewinder will perform the same benefit. And it works fine. But chances are when you replace your trailer, you'll need a new Sidewinder. When all costs are considered the Sidewinder may not be all that much (if any) cheaper.

All that being said, I would rather have the SuperGlide than a Sidewinder. And a Sidewinder rather than a manual slider. And a manual slider rather than no slider.

I would do some more checking before buying a slider. Many hitches are adjustable ahead and back. I have a B&W that can easily be moved.

My last two trucks have been short beds 6' 9", and there has been no problem with either of the FWs I pulled with them. I can move the one I have now back 4 inches more if I wanted.

You have to be careful when turning too short with any trailer, be it a TT, boat trailer, or sled trailer.

What did your dealer tell you?. Is there a brochure on the 5er telling about the advantages of the style of the front cap, ie works great for short bed trucks, no slide hitch needed?...IF your 5er has the front cap that is recessed on both sides you may be just fine with a regular hitch...

I had a Reese 16K slider for years on short bed trucks I had, really cheap insurance and not all that expensive...

With the newer pinboxes slider hitches are not needed unless you plan on doing alot of tight turns.you can go with a patriot for less than half the price .
you can get one from the chrome shop or tweetys
