Nothing wrong with plugging it in provided there is a purpose. If it's just to keep the battery charged that could be sufficient reason but just check the fluid level i the batteries about once a month until you know IF or HOW MUCH water it may boil out. I sometimes leave mine plugged in all winter and find I have to add water after about 6 months of constant charging. Keep the water level up and no harm is done. If there is no purpose in leaving it charging all winter then simply disconnect the negative lead to the batteries and hook them back up every three of four months for a day.
