5th Wheel Leveling

Big Moe my new 3500 Ram with a factory hitch built into the bed has my 5th Wheel hight to high causing my rear of the trailer to be to low. It looks like I have no more adjustment on the King Pin hight. How do I solve this problem.

  • Don't know which hitch is used by Dodge but check the hitch for any adjustment - providing you can maintain acceptable distance between the 5er overhang and truck bed walls.
  • What brand of trailer? Some manufacturers put a series of holes in the spring hangers. And by moving the springs down to the bottom hole you can raise the trailer a bit.
  • I guess the first question should be how much space is between the trailer and the bed rails. If you have 9-10 inches have another look at the pinbox. There should be large bolts on both sides and some holes that are not used. Pull the bolts and slide the box up to lower the front of the trailer. If you do not have that much space between the trailer and the bed rails then "flipping" your axels is probably the way to go.
  • Have the springs moved from under the axle to the top of the axle on the trailer. This will give you 7"-8" of height.
