5th wheel manufacturer reviews

Feeling lost. We have sold our bumper pull and are actively shopping for a smaller 5th wheel. I have looked on-line and book stores for some type of "consumer reports" type site/mag. that reviews the different manufacturers and trailers, but have not found anything. We are thinking along the lines of a Grand Design 29RS or a Dutchman Denali 2901. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Well, based upon our recent purchase of a 2016 Cougar 279RKS--find another brand! Sorry Keystone, but this baby has problems.
Funny, we loved our 2007 tow behind Cougar.
    Good luck.
  • If I replace our Montana High Country it won't be with another Keystone product unless it's an Alpine, maybe.
I would look at Northwood, Grand Design, and maybe the smallest Alpine.
  • I would go to owners groups website and ask a few questions. See how many people would or have purchased another of that make of RV. That was one of the deciding factors on my OR, lots of return customers and lots of GREAT customer service stories.

These things have grown so much over the last few years in both size and technology that it takes a few trips in most cases to work the bugs out. Every rig goes through a shakedown process so be ready to be patient

  • I've seen www.rv.org mentioned a few times. It's a paid membership service.
  • You live close to two of the best mfgs in the industey.
    Lance and Northwood Mfg.
Not sure Lance makesmfivers, but Northwood sure does. Also check Outdoor RV both in LaGrande,OR and actially sister companies.
  • I think Thor and Forest River make most of them. There are a few other players but much smaller volumes.
  • I ordered the 2016 RV Buyers Guide for $7.99 plus $2.00 postage. It's 266 pages and has info on more than 500 different rv's. It's a very informative guide.
  • Your best bet is to read what owners have to say on these forums. The overall consensus is there is a lack of quality in today's RV market. It's best if you are handy fixing things.
