I've already commented to the OP on the picture of the hitch and gave the OP my recommendations about the hitches condition.

My comments were about the B&W cheerleaders in general and no one in particular however You must not have liked my comment and singled me out. So here we are again with the usual Jim and Rusty back and forth.

OP'er if the pic of the rusty "new" hitch is the one you were using I can see why it came unhitched.

I have high hitched mine one time. When I couldn't get the locking tab to close right I knew then something was wrong. I rehitched and rechecked everything then was good to go. If you can't easily close the locking latch, you have a problem.
