That hitch looks pretty beat up. More than I would expect from 20 outings. Did you pick it up second hand?
Not sure why the jaws are not level. And not sure if that means much. But it could indicate looseness from wear. No grease???
I've seen 5th wheel hitches with the 1" thick jaws that looked like this when used around a construction work site.
In fact I had a driver who pulled into a rough leveled work site before it was final leveled. The truck/trailer were so off level to each other the pin simply bent the jaws/hinge pins just like the pic and made the 38k hitch useless.
The hitch in that picture has been abused and should be rebuilt if possible or sold as scrap steel.
