5th wheel slideout/problem

have a 1997 teton with three slides. We travel all the time causing constant movement. My 14 foot slide does not extend properly lately and getting worse. At first the bottom starts to move out.put the upper right corner doesn't move (standing inside the coach) for the first 5 inches. Then you hear a poop ,and the corner starts to move out ,but I need to push on it to on the corner to make it vertical with the left
side.
Standing outside the coach and looking up at the left corner,I see that the 3 inch trim piece that is on three sides is rubbing under the gutter that is attached to the sidewall of the coach. After extending that 5 inches, the slide is at such a angle that it finally poops free from the gutter. The right side is fine and the motor runs free.Do I have an adjustment problem or is something worn or broken wher the slide travels over the curb? Are there rollers under there or just plastic? This rubbing or binding only occurs on the first 7 inches of the gutter or where the trim hits the gutter.
thank you,Jeffrey
  • I'm sorry I have to; "boy I bet it stinks when the slide 'poops' free"!
  • Had same problem. Checked slide alignment (see if paint/decals still line up). Service center ended up pushing up the upper trim corner and securing it with some additional screws. They wanted to order entire new trim and seal, but the temporary fix has worked fine for me for over a year. Can't even see the additional screws as they are under the slide awning.

Does Teton have a forum? If so there may be others who have had the same problem and were able to fix it. Seems like it might be an adjustment. I don't know what type of drive Teton has, but my Cameo has a motor driven. For what I noted on the Carriage forum, this could be just an adjustment of some kind.

If you know the manufacture of the slide mechanism, they might be able to assist too.
