I work in safety at a trucking company. FMCSA did a study on single vehicle tractor trailer rollover crashes involving a fatality. 80 percent were not wearing a seat belt. On a roadside inspection violations are rated from 1 to 10 with 10 being the most serious. A violation for not wearing a seat belt is a 7 while speeding 6-10 over the limit is only a 4. They think not wearing a seat belt causes more deaths than speeding.
