Why is it DRW truck owners think a blowout only happens on a rear tire ???
In all the years and over a million miles I was on the road pulling heavy GN trailers I totaled one truck. It was a one ton DRW truck with loaded GN trailer full of wheeled work equipment.
The right front tire blew and to the ditch the rig went on a two lane state hiway. There was no time to even think about steering input or using brakes to slow me down. Bam and 2 seconds later I was in the bar ditch and hit a 2' tall concrete drainage ditch pier which literally tore the engine/tranny out from under the truck. The Trailer slammed into the back of the bed bending it and the main frame rails up about 18". My load stayed chained thanks to following dot requirements.
IMO todays reporters don't offer many facts leading up to or after a event and do a poor job overall.
Now ....state/city investigators haven't finished their job.....all we can do is speculate what went down.
