I think it will depend on the trailer you want to pull. Some trailers break with the 5th wheel hitch.
We pulled a HH11 LS for three years with a gooseneck adapter and had no problems.
We would have used a gooseneck adapter with our current trailer but TX. and some other states require safety chains. I got tired of putting them and taking them off.
