I notice that I often express contrarian or minority views on this forum. But I have been at it for more than 20 years and have logged over 162,000 miles on the four fifth-wheels we have owned--79,000 on our HitchHiker that we now own.
I avoid truck stops as much as possible. I look for a regular fuel station, usually of a major brand. I look carefully as I pull in and do not hesitate to pull out if I see a problem in maneuvering to or from the diesel pump.
We just got back from Western Kentucky where we went to view the eclipse and had to get fuel in a suburb of Little Rock, just off the freeway. It took a bit of maneuvering, but we got the fuel we needed in a neighborhood "service" station.
