I would not let the ease of fueling be a factor in my decision about Gas vs Diesel. I would pick a V-10 gas if I was in the market for a new truck. For me it is how often will I be towing versus driving around town. How long will I keep the truck matters also, because generally an old diesel holds its value and reliability, if not its looks.
I have no problems getting into and out of stations, but you do need to watch your overhead obstructions at some of the older stations particularly.
Driving on the east coast urban areas may pose more of a access problem but where I travel in the Southwest, I have never had problems getting to the pumps. I generally fill up at the rural stations unless I am on the interstate. Then I use truck stops but not the truck islands.
