Sounds like you hit the Auto Level....not the up arrow for the landing gear and when you drove out it leveled itself.

Exactly! Since that system uses hydraulics it simply leveled itself out.

This is not a problem with the level up system,but rather a situation where the operater must look to see that both front landing gear are completely down as they don't both go down at the same time or at the same rate. When both gear are down the truck should rise at least a couple of inches.

Be aware that being able to pull the release handle doesn't necessarily mean the weight is off the truck. Most 5th wheel hitches I am familiar with will release if there is not too much fore or aft pressure on the pin even if the full weight is still on the hitch.

Clearly form 3 Landmark owner posts, Landmark must have an additional landing gear switch for using the landing gear. They falsley assume Redwood has the same thing. They do not.

CaptainBruno, would be interested in a little more detail of what happened. I'm not understanding how the landing gear was able to lift the trailer, yet failed to hold the trailer when you released the hitch. Did you raise the landing gear far enough that your pin box lifted off the top of the hitch a bit?

Do not know much about the Level Up system since we have the Big Foot. Ours came with the key fob but we will never use it. We use the control panel instead. I can just see mixing up the buttons on the key fob and dropping the 5th wheel. I also stay right by the control panel when using the Big Foot in case it does something unexpectedly so I can do an emergency stop.

Re the six point leveling system. as a last resort one can always read the operating manual. If you did not get one there is a in depth manual on the Lippert site. It works perfectly once you understand how to use it.

During the PDI my dealer showed me how to use the system in the auto mode and manual model. He also hooked the trailer to my truck. He then had me do the same while he watched. You can go to the Lippert web site and down load a complete manual.

Sorry for your mishap but i'm glad you posted. I'm about to pickup my Montana with the 6 point leveling system. I've never owned a unit with auto leveling and it's one of those things that has me a bit concerned for lack of a better word. I'm used to the old school front jacks go down front jacks go up method. Nice and simple but seldom as level as I'd like. I will be paying extra attention to avoid the same issue.
