I made a short lifting handle that hooks to the battery lugs. Then I installed an eye-bolt above the battery box and purchased a cheap rope hoist from HF. I can lift the batteries with one hand using the hoist and guide them into place with the other. No more grunting and groaning or pinched fingers.
