'91 Nomad by Skyline (Century?)-Window Question
Hello everyone!
New to the forum and looking for any info on a 91/92 model Skyline Nomad 5th wheel. I bought one last year and am a bit baffled by a few things. I know Skyline was making mobile homes/park models years ago and it seems like they used some of those components/floor plans inside this 5th.
Have had various rv techs out while am remodeling and none of them have been able to figure out how the windows come out. Seriously. I'd say 5 guys with hundreds of years of experience between them. They think they were screwed in place at the factory and that's that, from within the framing and it does appear that way. They've also commented on the plumbing setup (not'bad',just "not normal"). Seems to be the key word with this 5th.
This particular model has the living room up front with 2 huge almost floor to ceiling windows on both sides (why I bought it), outside inserted window screens in living room window, skylight in the living room, vaulted ceiling. I've tried contacting Skyline for any leads on these windows or any other info but the 5th is just too old. They slide up from the bottom with a strong wire/cord attached, and one clip broke. I think I can patch it back on. The frame appears to be one whole piece both inside and out - no sandwich. Lots of curves in the metal. I've never seen windows like this before and have owned 2 5th's and a travel trailer previously.
Until I figure out if or how I can get them out to recaulk and seal, am just packing with putty from the sides and sealing well with proflex, would love to hear from anyone who has this particular year and model who might have figured this out. I think the '92 also had this floor plan.
Am also having a hard time finding a replacement radius door which appears to be a 32 X 80. The floor plan is great, it's got top of the line everything in it, just wish I could figure out those windows. The other windows have the same frame but screens insert from the inside. Am just worried about future leaks and dealing with that if I can't yank them without having to take the darn wall apart!
