I like it. It's a very good idea.
I have seen some older F450/550 cab/chassis trucks, which were outfitted with pickup beds, with the side wall height of the beds shortened like that, assumably for clearance of a fifth wheel trailer.
I think there was even a company that used to convert newly purchased cab/chassis trucks into pickups, that used short height pickup beds like that, which were also extended a few inches in length up front, to make up for the difference in wheelbase length of a cab/chassis, versus a pickup.
I agree, it would be better if the whole length of bed sides were shortened, instead of just the rear half.
The hitch appears to be mounted behind the truck's rear axle in the pic, and the truck is squatting quite a bit under the load. I do like the bed modification though.
There are alot of snowbirds and cowboys who do the rodeos around here, with jacked up 4x4 trucks. Most of them either mount flatbeds or hauler style beds on their trucks.
I'm surprised I haven't seen any of the local redneck trucks with cut down factory pickup beds, like in the pic.
