AAA service

is it true that if you have a problem with your truck, AAA will not tow your trailer anywhere. Has anyone had this happen to them. It was a Good Sam sales person that mentioned that, of course they told me that if I went with Good Sams with the same situation, they tow Both the truck to repair shop and the trailer to the closest rv park.

Thanks
Mike
  • thanks for all the great replies, I do have AAA RV and I believe it's 145.00 a year, but what this sales guy said got me thinking and we are getting close to retirement and we will be traveling with our trailer to more places.

    Thanks again
    Mike
  • I have mine with the company that insures both the truck and trailer. Bot the truck and trailer has to be endorsed for towing and road service, the cost is about $20 per month. There is no limit to the towing cost they will pay.

Good Sams ERS or Coach Net, in my opinion are the two best ERS options for campers....There is TONS of information on this...Use the search option and you can read all the different serivces these two offer, as well as experiences ....I've called AAA on several occasions over the years and after getting information, felt they didn't offer as much unless you paid more for the same services that GS or CN offers, and then, still didn't offer ALL the services that GS or CN offers....just my .02 and probably worth much less than that:)

  • I have Allstate ERS that covers all my vehicles, including motorcycles and fiver. Many other benefits as well. It is $120 a year.
  • After our friends bad experience with AAA I swore I would never use them.....She was near 70 years old and was pulling a 13' camper and had a flat tire. She was a British Motor Club member in England and when she came to Washington to work in their Embassy. She had a caravan in England and they would change a flat tire so she assumed AAA would do the same when she joined. They sent a truck but the man refused to change it after she had set along side the road for over an hour. Finally a good samaritan stopped and changed it for her.....I have been anti-AAA ever since...

Some trucks are on the "exclusion" list.
AAA will not tow my F450. Not sure if they'll tow a 350 if its a dually.

GS ERS and CN will tow both :)
  • AAA has been pretty good. However, what changed my mind was when we had a breakdown in Outer Banks / Cape Hatteras - 5 miles from the campground. We sat on the road - RT 12, with no shoulder, for about 3 hours before AAA finally told us that they did not have a company in the area to handle our size RV. I said, hey lady, this is one of the biggest RV spots in the country -- what do you mean you do not have a company to handle our RV. Bottom line I had to call my own tow service that did a fantastic job. I sent the bill to AAA for reimbursement and they paid the entire bill. Well, if you are going to pay the entire bill why not send me that company in the first place and save me 3 hours on the side of the road.
    We just bought Goodsams Platinum.

    Enjoy the road. We do.
