AAA service

is it true that if you have a problem with your truck, AAA will not tow your trailer anywhere. Has anyone had this happen to them. It was a Good Sam sales person that mentioned that, of course they told me that if I went with Good Sams with the same situation, they tow Both the truck to repair shop and the trailer to the closest rv park.

Thanks
Mike
  • Good Sams ERS or Coach Net, in my opinion are the two best ERS options for campers....There is TONS of information on this...Use the search option and you can read all the different serivces these two offer, as well as experiences ....I've called AAA on several occasions over the years and after getting information, felt they didn't offer as much unless you paid more for the same services that GS or CN offers, and then, still didn't offer ALL the services that GS or CN offers....just my .02 and probably worth much less than that:)

We have AAA RV used it once in Kentucky. Worked out well. Tow truck hooked on to truck with 5th wheel attached and actually towed us to the nearest campground. Then he towed the truck to the repair shop. No complaints there.

If your truck has a manual transmission I can see this happening.....with an automatic transmission did they disconnect the axel?
  • 4 or 5 years back, The water pump went out on my truck out in the middle no place. Two tow trucks showed up. They took the truck to nearest AAA aproved shop.87 miles The 2nd truck hooked to the 5er, DW & I in the cab & off the the camp ground. 73 miles.
I under stand this service varies state to state.

  • I switched to Good Sam's for just that reason. I've also heard that Good Sam's has service everywhere, but AAA has some 'gray' areas with no service if you have a problem.
  • AAA sells a supplemental RV/Motorcycle policy in addition to their roadside. I think it's $39.00 a year extra.

    Then they will tow you!

  • If you get RV Plus, or RV premier they will send two two trucks if your truck braeks down
  • AAA is NOT a national company, but 54 or more individual companies operating under the umbrella name of AAA. Each has its own rules and policies and not all will service an RV, so if you have problems in an area that is anti RV, you are on your own. Some will say they have an RV policy, but when you dig into the fine print, you will find out they have EXTREME limits on the service they will provide......AAA is NOT the RVers friend.
  • Their web site says they cover travel trailers and 5ers, but I don't know how well they perform. I looked at their info while researching ERS. But decided to go with a dedicated RV ERS and chose Coach-net.
