Hello all,I am looking into the idea of changing out my 13K A/C with a 15K.If I do that, would I need to replace the ceiling assembly or will the current one work/fit with the new A/C unit?Thank you in advance for your comments..Jason

Hi,The old ceiling assembly would be sold off with the old A/C unit, and the replacement A/C will come with a new inside cover/air filter holder.Fred.

If I had a 13K A/C go bad I'd replace it with a 15K A/C - my question is can you really tell the difference?Bill

And THAT is the question. My opinion...stay with what you got until (if) the thing breaks. ((what are you gonna do with the 13K? Muscle it around and try to sell it at a flea market?))

If the old unit is dead, go with the bigger unit for negligible cost difference but if the old unit is still running fine, I doubt you will get a noticable improvement for a significant cost.

Jason, To answer your original question, when I replaced our 13k with a 15K air conditioner two years ago, we had to replace the inside ceiling assembly along with it. And it was the same manufacturer of both the new and the old AC.

Agreed. If the old unit is dead, go with the bigger unit for negligible cost difference but if the old unit is still running fine, I doubt you will get a noticable improvement for a significant cost.

I would spend the money on installing a second AC over the king pin area. Typically this is the master bedroom. I would leave the 13.5k where it is until it needed replaced.

This is what we did with our FW. It made a huge difference on hot/humid days.

The current a/c cannot keep up when temps go North of 80?.
Two a/c units would not work as it is not at 50amp sysyem.
I have read that a 15k a/c can handle temps of 100? while keeping the trailer around 75?

Although not a 5th wheel our travel trailer is 32ft and has two slides. It has a 15K unit a does fine at the beach for two weeks in the summer. Last year most of our trip was around 100 degrees.
There have been people on here that have added a 2nd unit on a 30 amp trailer. I believe they were plugging in the 2nd at the pedestal.
