A/C units and a 50amp service?

My setup to park my camper at home is a 30 amp 240v breaker serving a 50amp plug with #10 solid wire. Which gives me 60 amps of total power instead of 100 amps

My question is, how are the A/C units wired? are they each on a different leg? or, are they wired to the same leg? I know if they are wired to the same leg, I would only be able to run one unit at a time. But, if they are on different legs, I should be able to run both at the same time.
  • Typically they put the second AC on the second lead. The hotwater heater, microwave and electric fireplace are most likely an unknown. If you have the PI remote on your surge protector(everyone with 50 service should have one), you can document what is on each leg, buy turning them on one at a time. Your question is prompting me to do that in our unit, and put up a list in our switch cabinet.

Note on 50 amp units. If you loose neutral on 50 amp service you put 240V across all AC items. You burn up the converter, the microwave, TV, AC on and on.
