I recently installed the Airlift 5000 airbags with the wireless one compressor system for the sole reason of smoothing out the ride out back and I am a very very happy customer. In my opinion my experience was a more of a rough ride from the rear when the trailer axles went over stuff versus a fore and aft movement but I could be wrong as it could be perception and maybe it was chucking? So far I've towed the 5er twice and it's nice to be able to play with the air on the fly but mine seems to like 55lbs as a sweet spot. Many nay sayers on here said the airbags would do nothing for ride quality and they were drop dead WRONG! I would say that my ride improved at least 80%-90%. My rig is a 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 with rear coils and a 32' Cougar 5er.
Its too bad that we have these naysayers about many things here.
You are totally correct about airbags they help the ride quality tremendously. IMO everyone could benefit from airbags. The new Rams now come with airbags, and a modified leaf spring setup . There are reasons for that, and until someone has added airbags they have no clue.
So not a Naysayer just chose to go down a different path to smooth the ride on my 2001. Many see them as the fix all for issues caused by poor riding of the trailer. I see that as not fixing the issue, but just masking the issue. To those I say next time you hit a rough section of road or a bridge transition, watch the trailer in your mirrors, is it bouncing around?? If you correct that likely your ride will be a lot better.
#1 didn't need to level the TV, as loaded it still sits slightly better than level. I tow a 5er at about the same specs as the OP's 9,820 # Dry weight, and a 12,360# GVWR.
I chose to solve the issues of the entire package. This included putting Bilstein 5100's on the TV. Then I installed shocks on the 5er, and keep working it to level still a tad nose high.
This way the TV isn't compensating for issues caused by poor riding of the 5er.
I really can't put bags on my TV because if I placed more than 5 to 10 psi in them I will be raising the rear of the TV and making the 5er just that much more nose high.
