Adding power outlets in slide with no wiring

I am looking at adding a 12V circuit into my slide so we have overhead lights where there currently are none.  I've considered a rechargeable LED light that I could hang but looking at something more permanent that will look nice.

My question is how do they run power such that the cord extends with the slide but isn't hanging down to the ground when the slide is retracted?   Again, there is ZERO power currently run to the slide, AC nor DC.  I am a former electrician turned electrical engineer turned electrical apprentice trainer so am.no stranger to wiring.  I've got that side handled, I think.

TIA

  • How, or more specifically, why, would you go from being an EE to apprentice trainer?  Seems like a waste of a high paying degree and career to be low man back on the Union roster.

I'm still on the company roster for a moderately large utility company.  As a Technical Trainer, I have 100% autonomy over my day, ZERO project deadlines besides my students, I rarely if ever work a 40 hour week while being salary and the pay is almost double as what I was making as an Engineer.  I've yet to find a down side in the 19 years doing it.  As a relay engineer with my field experience, our relaying shop has been trying to pressure me to come over to the union side as a technician but I don't want to travel like that even though that also would be another double the current pay.

  • yes they usaly have a double arm setup under the slide that unfolds as the slide moves out.  that will have power lines in it

Mine is what I think is a Schwin Tech slide?  Just a smooth bottom and no arms underneath. That setup would definitely be a simple addition.

I just looked at that and appears to be exactly what the doctor ordered. I'll have to get eyes on a slide with it attached just to get a better idea of how it attaches but looks simple enough.  THANKS!
