I'm still on the company roster for a moderately large utility company. As a Technical Trainer, I have 100% autonomy over my day, ZERO project deadlines besides my students, I rarely if ever work a 40 hour week while being salary and the pay is almost double as what I was making as an Engineer. I've yet to find a down side in the 19 years doing it. As a relay engineer with my field experience, our relaying shop has been trying to pressure me to come over to the union side as a technician but I don't want to travel like that even though that also would be another double the current pay.
